The revered Tibetan spiritual leader, the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, arrived at the Buddhist Monastery in Salugara, Siliguri, on Thursday morning after completing a three-day visit to Sikkim. His arrival was met with a traditional welcome by the Buddhist monks present at the monastery.
During his stay at the Salugara Buddhist Monastery, the 14th Dalai Lama is slated to impart spiritual teachings to Buddhist monks, focusing on Tibetan religion. The event has drawn a considerable crowd, with approximately 20 thousand devotees from Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Dooars, and neighboring countries Nepal and Bhutan converging at the monastery to participate in the religious discourse.
As special guests, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Dev and Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar graced the occasion, adding to the significance of the event. The visit of the Dalai Lama has prompted strict security measures in and around the Buddhist monastery to ensure a peaceful and secure environment during his stay.
